Elro J Braak (Pty) Ltd is one of Southern Africa's leading horticulture companies. The company consists of two main divisions namely Fern & Foliage and Floral Products.
Fern & Foliage
Established in 1975 as a division of the company.
A man with a vision, Elro (1925 - 1995) quickly expanded this business and in 1985 an additional 42 ha were in production with a further 21 ha in 1987.
In addition to the leather leaf, there is also a variety of other cut green foliage.
The leather leaf is sold locally and exported overseas. Elro received two prestigious awards of Merit for Export Achievement for Ngogolo Decorative Greens in 1986 and 1989 from the State President. Eldene was the proud recipient of the DTI Business Award for Export in 2002.
Floral Products
This division is situated in Silverton x46 Pretoria South Africa. As the official licensee of Smithers-OASIS Company for this territory, the company is involved in the manufacture and distribution of OASIS® floral foam and accessories to all leading floral wholesalers. In 1959 Elro Braak introduced OASIS® Floral Foam to the floral industry, which has proved to be the biggest florist time-saver invented. In 1976 Elro went on to establish a manufacturing plant in South Africa, the only one in the world not owned by the Smithers-OASIS® Company. Today, Richard Mason is in the driving seat. The company continues to grow and has recently relocated into spacious new premises situated in Silverton, from which we are now able to offer an exciting new range of accessories.
